Carey Mulligan's Met Ball dress goes on eBay

Carey Mulligan's stunning dress was one of the hits of the Met Ball this week, and now you can own it yourself.

The very dress Carey wore to the Ball has been placed on eBay.com with proceeds from the auction going to Oxfam America. The dress was custom-made by Prada for the actress to wear to the ball and comes in at an Italian size 38-40 (that's a teeny 4-6 in UK sizing). It is described on the site as a: "custom Prada gold and silver degradé metal paillettes scaled halter neck dress".

Biding started at $500 when the dress appeared on the site last night and at the time of writing is up to $1,025.

Carey Mulligan previously auctioned off the Vionnet gown which she wore to the 2010 BAFTA Awards, again for Oxfam, so we'll be watching with interest her future red carpet choices, just in case...
