Lauren Pope talks to MTV Style
Lauren Pope has been one of the break-out stars of The Only Way Is Essex and is now in great demand as a celebrity DJ.
We caught up with her last night as she DJ'd at the launch of Glam Rock Watches' South Beach range at boutique.Goldsmiths, Westfield Stratford City for an exclusive Style chat.
Who is your style icon?
My style icon would probably be somebody like Nicole Richie or Victoria Beckham. I love the laidback style of Nicole Richie, you know a little glam dress with biker boots, but then I also love how Posh just goes all-out all the time.
Who is your favourite designer?
At the moment it's this designer called Louis Heal – he made me an amazing red dress for the Twilight premiere.
And what about High Street?
High Street I'd probably say Zara. And Lipsy is great for party dresses. Zara's great for coats and winter woolies, fake fur, stuff like that.
What is the one thing in your wardrobe that you couldn't live without?
Probably skinny jeans. I live in them, I just think they can go with everything. You can dress them up, dress them down, wear them in the summer, wear them in winter. Someone sent me some from Pop Couture which is an online shop. They're only about £30 but they're amazing. They're kind of stretchy and they look like they're skin tight on, but they're still comfortable.
And what about your make-up bag?
(long pause) Oh god, I couldn't just live with one thing. (laughs) Probably my eyelashes, they keep you looking semi-human. But make-up-wise probably blusher or bronzer. I love M.A.C., pretty much 90% of my make-up bag is M.A.C.
What's do you always have to have in your handbag?
People laugh at me because I've got this make-up bag that holds everything and I take everywhere with me. It's one of those fold-out ones that really packs up small, so it's like a mini suitcase. Day-to-day I love carrying massive bags so I just shove it in. You never know when you're going to need it, do you? You may bump into the man of your dreams walking down the street, it's always handy to have your full make-up bag. (laughs)
What are you hoping to get for Christmas?
We're so lucky at the moment, we keep getting sent loads of stuff so I don't really need anything. The one thing I would really like is an iPad. I've got a Mac laptop so an iPad would be nice for travelling. I travel a lot when I DJ so it would be good for watching films when I'm away and for playing games.
